Basics
No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu is a style of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practiced without the traditional kimono (gi). Instead, practitioners wear rash guards and shorts, which makes the pace faster and grips more limited. This style emphasizes body control, positioning, and technique over fabric-based grips, making it especially applicable for real-world self-defense and MMA. At Submission Systems, No-Gi is our focus—pure, efficient, and modern grappling without anything extra.

The whole game is based on respect and trust. Treat others how you would like to be treated. We aren’t into bowing, but we expect our students to appreciate their training partners and our facilities.
-
Jiu-jitsu requires a close level of physical contact. Because of this, we ask all members and visitors to arrive clean and smelling fresh. Please also ensure that your fingernails and toenails are trimmed and, if necessary, filed to ensure you do not cut your training partners.

At Submission Systems we want to see what makes you you! This means we don’t have any mandatory uniform requirements in terms of color of branding. Come in your coolest set and let’s get some great pictures!
For functionality, shorts should have no zippers or pockets and compression, Under Armor style, shirts are best.
In the interest of keeping a modest training environment we do not allow shirtless training. We also do not consider compression leggings and spats to be adequate bottom uniforms and require students to wear grappling shorts over top of them if they are being worn. This applies to male and female students.
